Can PGA Players Use Range Finders? Why the Event Conditions Decide

There is no single yes-or-no answer for every event involving PGA professionals. The Rules of Golf generally allow distance-measuring devices for basic distance, while committees may adopt Model Local Rule G-5 to prohibit them. Specific tours, championships, sections, teaching events, and practice rounds can set different conditions. Players must check the official competition notice, disable slope and prohibited interpretive functions, and ask the committee rather than copying what they saw in another televised event. “PGA” may refer to different organizations, tours, sections, or working professionals, so name the exact competition before looking for policy. A practice-round sighting does not prove tournament permission, and a visible tournament-mode light cannot override an event-wide DMD ban. Save the current player information and have a rules official resolve any connected wind, map, club-selection, or slope function that is not clearly covered.
